A floating canvas frame in solid American walnut, made to order for your exact canvas size and depth. The frame surrounds your piece on all four sides while a narrow reveal on the face lets a thin line of shadow show through. That's the effect that gives floating frames their name.

What's Included

Dimensions & Fit

Profile: 1/2" face by 2" depth. Slim from the front, substantial from the side.
Fits stretched canvases and thin panels up to 36" × 48"
Recess depth: 1/8" to 2". Pick the depth that matches your art: most panels are 1/8" to 1/4", most canvases 3/4" or 1 1/2".
Reveal: 3/16" all around your art, so the shadow line stays even on every side.
Outside dimensions: art size plus 1 3/8" in width and height.

Materials & Craftsmanship

Walnut. Deep brown, dramatic grain, and the most requested wood in the shop. Over the years it mellows from dark chocolate toward a warmer, honey-brown tone, which is part of its charm. Every frame is cut from a different board, so no two are identical.

Splined corners. Each corner is reinforced with a wooden spline, cut into the miter by hand. It's a furniture-maker's joint, and it's what tells you the frame was built, not stamped.

Hand-rubbed hard wax oil finish. No solvents, no varnish, no VOCs. Safe for a nursery or a kid's room.

Made for your piece specifically. Every frame is milled for a specific canvas, not pulled from a shelf. Yours won't exist until you order it.

Easy Installation

Stretched canvas

Place the frame face up on a soft surface.
Set your canvas inside the frame.
Use cards or paper shims to center it evenly.
Secure the canvas with the included screws.
Hang using the pre-installed D-rings and wire.

Thin panel or board (canvas panels, hardboard, wood, aluminum composite)

Place the frame face up on a soft surface.
Put a dab of the included adhesive on each unfinished spot on the shelf inside the frame.
Set your panel in and use cards or paper shims to center it evenly.
Rest something light and flat on the panel to hold it down.
Leave it 24 hours, then hang it.
