About Us

A collective of makers who still believe in doing things the right way

I’m Andrew Schatz, the woodworker who started Atlas in a Pennsylvania garage after two decades in a world where human connection kept getting buried under automation. The shop has grown beyond my own workbench, but the standards that got us here haven’t moved an inch.

Why a Collective?

Custom furniture is personal. It should feel like it came from someone, not somewhere. I never wanted Atlas limited to whatever lived in my own sketchbook. By welcoming a small circle of independent artisans, each with their own angles on form, function, and finish, we opened the door to designs I’d never have dreamed up alone.

How We’re Different

Single-maker builds: One craftsperson guides your project from rough plank to final polish. No assembly lines, no mystery “shop lead.”

Direct, start-to-finish communication: You work with me, Andrew, from first sketch to delivery day. No hand-offs, no call-center shuffle, just one familiar voice keeping everything on track.

True hardwood, zero shortcuts: Visible surfaces are solid American lumber; we use veneer only where stability demands it and we tell you up front.

Honest timelines: Milestones are set before the first cut and respected after. If anything shifts, you hear it from us before you need to ask.

Do What’s Right Guarantee: If a piece isn’t perfect, we fix it. Free returns or exchanges within 45 days. No hoops.

Built for designers and homeowners tired of lead-time drift, radio silence, and “custom” pieces that turn out to be mass-routed MDF.

Feel free to look around and let me know you if you have any questions.
